Not always. A VIN-based lookup identifies the car's original build and narrows its factory gearbox application, but it cannot establish that the same unit is still fitted after years of service or a previous replacement. It also may not resolve a production-dependent revision of an individual part.
Cross-check the VIN with a photograph of the installed gearbox label, full variant or manufacturer number, engine and drivetrain. For an internal part, add the original component's OE/service number and any relevant transmission serial or build data. If the two sources disagree, resolve that mismatch before ordering rather than assuming the VIN or the listing is universally correct.
